Early in 2007, a historical society for the above areas was established. The districts of Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount have a wealth of history behind them in the civic, ecclesiastical and cultural fields. A requirement for a local historical society was evident, bearing in mind that many of the surrounding localities in Dublin have already established their own historical societies.

The Society aims to hold a lecture or event once every month with talks held during the winter/spring months from September to April and tours or local walks to interesting areas, during the summer months of May and June.

This website contains information about the Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount Historical Society. If you are interested in joining the Society please click membership for details. If you would like to come along to one of the lectures/walks we would be more than happy to have you come along on the day of the event.

Lectures will be held at St. Mary’s National School, Belmont Avenue, Donnybrook at 8.00 p.m.  Parking is available.

Events are free to members and €3.00 for guests.

Please see the Events Section for information about forthcoming talks, lectures and tours.
