Down The Dodder
A talk by Dr. Christopher Moriarty on 24 January 2008 on the history of the River Dodder.

Baggot Street Hospital
A talk by Professor Davis Coakley on 21 February 2008 on the history of the Royal City Hospital in Baggot Street.

Oliver St. John Gogarty - A Literary Journey
A talk by Guy St. John Williams on 5 March 2008. Pembroke Library, Anglesea Road, Dublin 4.

Writers and Artists of Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount
A talk by Peter Costello on 13 March 2008 on a variety of local Writers and Artists.

From Bootmaking to Building- A look at how Patrick Plunkett and Patrick Cranny became Dublin 4 and 6 Developers
A talk by Honor O'Brolchain on 10 April 2008 on the development of the area.

Saturday 17 May 2008: McKee Barracks

A tour to McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7 to see the Army Equitation School followed by a visit to the Garda Headquarters in the Phoenix Park. Afterwards, a trip to the nearby Military Cemetery, given by Michael Pegum.

Saturday 7 June 2008: Sandymount Walking Tour

A walking tour by Brian Siggins and John Holohan of some local historical sights in Sandymount. The itinerary includes St. John's Church, the Martello Tower, Merrion Strand and other sights.

SCHOOLS LOCAL HISTORY COMPETITION

In conjunction with the History Teachers Association of Ireland, the Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount Historical Society have established a schools local history competition in order to promote the study and research of local history amongst the younger generation.

A prize of €300 and a certificate will be awarded annually by the Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount Historical Society to a second level student, for the best essay on a topic of local history based on the area of Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount.

The Society's inaugural lecture was an illustrated talk given by Dr. Séamus Ó Maitiú on 17 January 2007 on Donnybrook Fair.

The Pembroke Estate Papers
A talk given by Aideen Ireland on the National Archives of Ireland on 21 March 2007 on the papers of the Pembroke Estate.

A talk given by Brian Siggins on 17 October 2007 in the Minerva Suite, Royal Dublin Society and its opening of an exhibition in the RDS Library. This exhibition remained at the RDS Library until 10 December.

A one day course held on 24 November 2007 by Seamus O Maitiu in Ballsbridge College of Further Education from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Commencing the writing of local history..

AGM and Members' Evening
The Society held an Annual General Meeting on 6 December, followed by a Members' Evening when members were invited to give a brief presentation on their own local history research.
